Coyote

CoyoteThe prairie wolf, sometimes called the "barking wolf," because its bark resembles that of a dog.  The Indian considered the coyote a wise animal and respected it.  Coyote skin was valued by many Plains tribes for making quivers.  Few tribes ate the flesh of the coyote, although the Coyoteros, a division of the Apache, are believed by some to have given that name because they ate the flesh of the coyote.
